NCC HELD A SPECIAL SEND OFF CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF FORMER DIRECTOR GENERALS AND RETIRED DIRECTORS CUM THE 37TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMMISSION

The Nigerian Copyright Commission over the weekend in Abuja held a Special send-off ceremony in honour of past Director Generals and retired Directors of the commission, co- incidentally, the day also marked the 37th anniversary of the commission since inception.


The Director General of the commission, Dr John Asein in his welcome address, tagged the event a send - off ceremony noting that, those been honoured truely never left the commission as their indemeable ideas, decisions and contributions have remained and left an institutional memory which is presently the bedrock the commission is positively building on.

He noted that it is not just a send off ceremony but a gathering of the commission's family to acknowledge, honour and appreciate those who laboured to help build the commission.


The event which was graced by several notable dignitaries within and outside the commission saw the Honourable Attorney General of the federation and Minister for Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi who was ably represented by Dr. Patrick Etta Oyong, Director Legal Drafting. Federal Ministry of Justice, Pioneer Director General of the commission, former Director Generals, Retired/ Serving Directors, several other senior officers of the commission and many others.

The Honorable Attorney General, Justice Latef Olasunkanmi in his remark, congratulated the honourees on the well deserved recognition while formally acknowledging and appreciating their years of leadership, commitment and invaluable service not just to the commission but the entire nation.

He emphasize on strengthening of institutions, policy advancement, people mentored and enduring legacies as a measuring yardstick for successive leaderships and generations of dedicated officers based on collective efforts of great minds.  



  These men he affirmed laboured to bring the commission to it present enviable height as been celebrated.

The Director General of the commission in his recognition also mentioned late Dr S.O. Williams who died in office over the years and other late colleagues whose sacrifices and selfless service to the commission will forever be cherished. 

Noting the the success story of the commission will not be complete without their mention.



The event witnessed the giving out of plagues and recognition of the honourees amongst other activities. The music society of Nigeria (MCSN) Chairman, Mayo Ayilara delivered his goodwill message on behalf of his organization.

Justice Lateef in his message, tagged the event ultimately as that of gratitude and legacy while congratulating the honourees. He thanked the present management of the commission in preserving the best tradition of the commission by remaining committed to building a stronger, more responsive and effective copyright system for Nigeria and Nigerians.

The Director General, Dr Asein thanked all present affirming that the event marked history been set right, for many upcoming leaders of the commission to continually build upon.
