ALLEGATIONS BY BALA MOHAMED, OUR STAND: NNPP

RE:TEXT OF A PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY ONE ALHAJI BALA MOHAMMED.

SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT - NNPP.

Our attention has been drawn to a so-called press text signed by one Bala Mohammed, an expelled member of our great party in which he made several UNSUBSTANTIATED, reckless and spurious allegations against not only the leadership of our party headed by Dr Boniface Aniebonam but also against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary.

In the statement, he claimed to be raising an alarm on what seemed to them a dangerous trend that could threaten the very foundation of our democracy, referring to a  body charged with the responsibility of regulating the activities of political parties in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It is noteworthy to say that over the past three years, our party, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has been illegally occupied by former members of the Party under the direction of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima.

These two men have long been expelled since August 2023 and are now members of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) with the former being their vice presidential candidate.

In their usual way of peddling blackmail and lies to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, they claimed that at the onset of the crisis in 2023, we sought relief from various Courts, (Ogun, Ekiti, Anambra, Rivers, Niger, Oyo, Gombe, Katsina States) and that several judgements went against us.

It is important to point it out here that they were the ones that took NNPP to court in Katsina where they dubiously tried to secure contempt against us.

The court later saw the mischief and they were forced to withdraw the matter when it turned against them soon after the judge discovered they were liars. They also took us to a Kano State High Court where they also withdrew when the judge saw the truth (evidences are all available).

At the Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice Emeka Nwite, in a well - considered judgement on the 18th April, 2024 ruled that the issues at stake were internal affairs of the party and advised that it should be settled internally.

These same bunch of  irresponsible people shamelessly said that the INEC Chairman accused us of jumping from one court to  another during one of our meetings with the commission. The Honorable Chairman of INEC, Prof. Joash Amupitan at that meeting only tried to set a stage for internal reconciliation which we outrightly turned down insisting they were not members of our party anymore.

Not satisfied with the Nwite judgement calling for internal reconciliation, we approached the Abia State High Court in Ozuakoli, where Justice C. U. Okoroafor directed that the party be handed over to the Board who should activate all other organs through congresses and Convention.

They, in connivance with people suspected to be in high places in Abia coerced Justice Okorafor into  setting aside his own judgment and asked the two parties  to come and argue the matters before him again.

Events however overtook that action as the Owerri Court of Appeal had ruled and restored the judgement that Justice Okoroafor had purportedly set aside.

They, in that Inglorious media outing said we took them to an  FCT High Court to ask the Court to compel INEC to obey the Ozuakoli High Court judgement. They have forgotten or mischievously will not let the public know that they were the ones that took us to the FCT High Court to stop our ongoing congresses and Convention in line with the ruling of the Abia High Court.

Quoting them precisely, "In circumstances shrouded in mystery which will enter the Guinness Book of Records, even though we informed Justice Bello Kawu of the FCT High Court that the judgment they brought before him has been set aside, and that a Federal High Court of Justice Emeka Nwite had earlier made a ruling directing internal resolution,  Justice Bello Kawu still granted all their reliefs".

Can you see a bunch of so called leaders blackmailing an honourable court just because her judgement did not go the way they wanted?.

They claimed to have served INEC with all processes of Appeal. Do they not know that a mere notice of appeal does not amount to a stay of execution of a judgement delivered by a competent court?.

The truth, even was that they didn't approach any Appeal Court under the circumstances.

They took us before Justice Kawu and we defeated them again, INEC ignored the judgement and instead of taking laws into our hands, we went back to the same court to seek for an order of mandamus which was granted against INEC with a 72 hours mandate to upload the Dr Agbo Major led NWC on the portal.

INEC's refusal to act within the time allowed took us back to the same Court to commence Contempt of Court proceedings against the Chairman for not implementing the Court judgment.

It's essential to establish here that INEC  filed all the necessary papers to challenge the Contempt proceedings. As a matter of fact, the INEC Management under the able Chairmanship of Prof. Joash Amupitan invited both parties to a meeting at its National Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Prof. Joash Amupitan                                            INEC Chairman

After listening to the two groups during the meeting, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, in the company of the other National Commissioners, made it very clear that he would look deeply into all the judgements and revert in a very short time.

After the  May 19th, 2026 meeting at the INEC headquarters where the Chairman promised to personally read through the judgements, the commission took the decision to abide by the rule of law by doing exactly what the court directed.

Today, the Chairman is being called names including an enemy of democracy for upholding the course of justice and effecting changes at the INEC server on  June 24, 2026.

In sharp contrast to their senseless statement as quoted here - "We wish to let INEC understand that actions like this cast a lot of shadow on the integrity of INEC as we move towards the 2027 General elections", we would rather wish to let them know that INEC only did the needful by halting their evil and dubious intentions to constitute a clog on the wheel of the development of our nascent democracy and deliberate blackmailing of the Electoral umpire inorder to bring it into disrepute.

We wish to let Nigerians know that the list of party leaders (Ward, Local Government, States, Zones) of our great party that emerged from the process of congresses and Convention inline with the party's constitution as  directed by the Abia High Court and the Court of Appeal in Owerri have been duly transmitted to INEC for further action.

The state chairmen they are referring to in their press statement  are Kwankwassiya and not NNPP chairmen.

According to them, "Finally, we wish to alert Nigerians and the international community to the assault on the very foundation of our democracy, by those using the judiciary and the INEC".

We see this reckless statement as an affront on the sanctity of the judiciary, it is a dangerous trend that must be confronted by all lovers of democracy in our country.

We can only but pray for God's forgiveness for these political traders, jobbers and betrayers of trust.

Thank you and God bless you all.

Dr Agbo Major                                          National Chairman, NNPP
