NAGAFF Kicks Off Voters Screening, Aniebonam Pledges Neutrality
The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Monday commenced its voters' screening exercise for the forthcoming Western Zone chapter elections, with members from different chapters scheduled to participate on designated days.
The exercise, which began on Monday, July 13, 2026, is aimed at verifying eligible voters ahead of the chapter elections and ensuring a credible electoral process.
Before the commencement of the screening, the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, addressed members of the NAGAFF Electoral Commission, NECOM, and prospective voters, assuring them of a free, fair, and transparent election.
Dr. Aniebonam emphasized that neither he nor the President of the association, High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, is backing any aspirant in the elections.
According to him, the leadership of the association remains neutral, stressing that both himself and the president are "for everybody and for nobody" in the contest. He noted that the position of the leadership is intended to guarantee a transparent and credible electoral process where members are free to elect candidates of their choice.
The NAGAFF founder also urged voters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election period, warning against any form of misconduct or foul play that could undermine the credibility of the exercise.
He encouraged members to uphold the association's values by participating responsibly and respecting the outcome of the elections.
Speaking after the screening exercise, some of the eligible voters shared their expectations for the incoming chapter executives during interviews with the NAGAFF Cargo Watch crew.
While expressing satisfaction with the screening process, many of the voters said they were looking forward to leaders who would provide transparent and accountable leadership. Others stressed the need for elected officials to fulfil their campaign promises, promote unity within the association, and work towards advancing the welfare and professional interests of freight forwarders.
The voters' screening exercise will continue according to the timetable released by NECOM, with members from other chapters expected to undergo verification on their scheduled dates ahead of the Western Zone chapter elections.
