NNPP LEADERSHIP TUSSLE: APPEAL COURT REMOVES KWANKWASO; RETURNS PARTY TO ANIEBONAM

BREAKING NEWS

LEADERSHIP TUSSLE: APPEAL COURT REMOVES KWANKWASO; RETURNS PARTY TO ANIEBONAM. NNPP

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Owerri, today gave a final judgement in the leadership struggle that had since bogged down the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP, for years.

In a well considered judgement, the Appeal Court set aside the Ruling of the Abia State High Court, sitting at Uzuakoli, that had set aside its earlier judgement given in favour of the Aniebonam leadership.

It should be recalled that the said Uzuakoli High Court had in November 2024 in Suit No HUZ/11/2024 delivered a final judgement in favour of the Board of Trustees of the party led by Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam.

However,a subsequent Motion by Kwankwaso for setting aside that judgement was granted in June 2025. The NNPP led by Aniebonam appealed to the Court of Appeal Owerri in appeal No CA/OW/271/2025, arguing that the judge was wrong in sitting on appeal over his earlier judgement.

The three Grounds of Appeal were all upheld by the Court of Appeal. With this judgement, and previous judgments of other courts, Dr Aniebonam is now the undisputed Leader of the Party he founded in 2001.

The party granted Rabui Musa Kwankwaso its Presidential ticket for the 2023 General Election, but after the election, Kwankwaso sought to hijack the party and convert it into an arm of his Kwankwassiya Movement.

Today's Court of Appeal judgement has ended all that egregious scheming and manoeuvering by Senator Kwankwaso and his Kwankwassiya movement.

An Onitsha based Senior Counsel, Sir Azubike Anazor, argued the Appeal for Dr Aniebonam, while Abuja based Eyitayo Fatogun, SAN responded on behalf of Kwankwaso.

It's obvious that Gov ABBA KABIR YUSUF of kano state was certain that Kwankwaso attempt to hijack NNPP from the backdoor was a concern to anyone who has fear of God.

God acts differently
