NNPP DEMANDS INEC'S SWIFT EXECUTION OF THE FCT COURT ORDER
NNPP demands INEC's swift execution of the FCT Court Order
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Friday demanded that INEC should swiftly enforce the Federal Capital Territory High Court Order to recognise the Agbo Major led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Justice Bello Kawu of the FCT high Court on Tuesday ruled that INEC should immediately recognize the NNPP NWC of the Dr Boniface Aniebonam led group of the party.
In a statement by its National Secretary in Lagos, Mr Ogini Olaposi, the party stated that INEC should no longer delay uploading it's national executives on the commission's website.
We hope that the current leadership in INEC will not be worse than his predecessor in the area of disobedience to valid court orders and clear judgments. As we speak a contempt proceedings had commenced and form 48 duly served to the chairman of INEC
The court restrained INEC from dealing and transacting any business with Dr Ahmed Ajuji led NWC members of the kwankwasiya movement pending the outcome of just concluded judicial review
A court order was validly issued on Tuesday, March 17 by Justice Bello Kawu compelling Inec to within 72hrs update it's records to reflect the authentic National leaders of the new Nigeria people's party led by its Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees Dr Aniebonam.
It is so sad and regrettable that inec still went ahead to receive correspondence from Dr Ahmed Ajuji and Dipo Olayonku despite the fact that INEC lawyer was in court at the time Justice Bello Kawu delivered his judgement
The National Chairman of INEC is Prof in law and a senior advocate of Nigeria, it is the belief of Nigerians that there shall be a great deal of improvement in the area of obedience to court judgements and rule of law generally.
"The notice of Appeal and Motion for Stay do not constitute an impediment to execution of lawful court orders by those to whom they are addressed, in this instance INEC.
"No order for Stay of Execution has been granted by any court; none has been served on INEC.
"The order of Justice Bello Kawu is specific , direct , positive and compelling that INEC should within 72 hours, update and recognise the Major Gilbert Agbo led NWC and revert to the original logo of the new Nigeria people's party forthwith."
The party urged its members to remain calm and continue with its membership drive nationwide, adding that with what has happened, the NNPP is now sure of fully participating in the 2027 general election.
It, however, reiterated that members who were expelled for anti party activities, remain expelled but noted that defected members would be accepted back into the party.
"With our victory in the court, the sky is now our limit and we will do our best to make sure that the NNPP thrives in the election and other off circle elections nationwide."
