NNPP COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF 22 DEAD KANO ATHLETES AND THE NIGER STATE FLOOD VICTIMS

The New Nigeria People's Party ( NNPP) has described as "colossal loss" the death of the 22 athletes of Kano State who lost their lives in an accident recently.
In a statement by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, NNPP expressed sadness over the tragedy, noting that the deceased were patriots who represented Kano State at the recently concluded National Sports festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and were dedicated throughout with good performances.
The statement regretted the sheer number of those who lost their lives, noting that they died in their prime with lost potentials and a colossal loss to their families and Kano State.
"It was really shocking but now we have to find the strength to cope with this monumental tragedy. It is very sad and we duly commiserate with the families and the government of Kano State over the horrendous death of our young athletes who felt phonoured representing their state at the National Sports festival in Ogun State but couldn't make it back home safely on account of that black day.
"They lost their lives in a monumental tragedy but we will continue to remember them as patriots who died for the greater glory of Kano State. May their great souls rest in peace".
NNPP National Chairman...Dr. Ajuji AhmedThe statement quoted NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, to have also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and government of Kano State on the tragedy
"The death of the young athletes was gruesome and disheartening and a major concern to all of us, not only in Kano State but also as a nation, it's a national tragedy", he stated, adding that "their death should not be in vain as measures should be put in place to immortalise them as dedicated patriots of Kano State.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and government of Kano State at this very difficult period as we wish the dead peaceful rest".
NNPP also commiserates with the Government and people of Niger State over the flood that killed over 150 people, displaced thousands, submerged houses and farmlands at Mokwa in Niger State.
Our hearts go out to those affected by this disaster trusting God to console, comfort and strengthen them in this difficult time.
The party urges relevant agencies to expedite action on search and rescue, and provide relief materials to ameliorate their sufferings.
