LABOUR DAY 2025: NNPP COMMENDS WORKERS, SET TO PARTNER WITH ORGANIZED LABOUR AND OTHERS TO ACHIEVE MORE CONDUCIVE SOCIO - ECONOMIC CONDITIONS AND WELFARE FOR THE NIGERIAN WORKER
The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has commended Nigerian Workers for their diligence and fortitude, despite the economic challenges and insecurity in parts of the country.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, NNPP said the commendation was for all workers who are wading through the same suffocating economic conditions with courage and aspirations for a new lease of life.
The party noted that the situation with the minimum wage in particular deserved close attention because of its economic implications for the generality of workers.
NNPP stated that the minimum wage of the Nigerian Worker is still below the internationally accepted poverty line and as such is not sustainable, adding that government must work assiduously to improve the economy and create an environment in which the value of the Naira will increase steadily.
The statement further quoted the National Liaison Officer of the party, Bashir Abacha, as saying that NNPP was aggregating views from related bodies and organizations towards forming a synergy that can help to integrate and reinforce the need for better working conditions for Nigerian workers.
"NNPP is a party of sound ideology and as such we will not just pay lip service to workers' rights and welfare.
Already, we are beginning to reach out to associations, unions and groups so as to hear from them and together chart a path forward to see what could be done by governments to bring about better working conditions for the Nigerian Worker within the context of a robust and stable economic environment.

"Of course, being a key issue, it has been given priority by the party as the national chairman, Dr Ajuji Ahmed, has constituted a committee under my chairmanship (the National Liaison Officer of the party) to ensure that the party reaches out to the stakeholders".
The statement praised the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, for the work done so far, which it claimed, has improved the lot of workers, despite the challenges with the Nigerian economy.
The party stressed that empowerment and training programs for workers, traders, and entrepreneurs would go a long way to ameliorate the economic pains being felt in the country.
