HEAD, NIGERIA NATIONAL OFFICE WAEC AFFIRMS THEIR PREPAREDNESS FOR THE WASSCE FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES, TO COMMENCE ON APRIL 25TH, 2025
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) Nigeria in a press briefing recently in Lagos, made known their preparedness and readiness for the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates 2025 in Nigeria.
Dr Amos Josiah Dangut Head, Nigeria National office WAECThe Head of the Nigeria National office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Dr Amos Josiah Dangut in his address, stated that WAEC is an organization that believes in the use of modern infrastructure and communications technology (ICT) in solving myraids of problems as well as, improving service delivery to the Nigerian child. Having introduced it's maiden computer based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB- WASSCE) for school candidates, 2025.
The HNO pointed out that a witness of a paradigm shift will be noticed in the educational sector of which no two candidates will have same questions on each number. The Initiative he stated will bring about the adoption of current test administration technology geared towards upholding the academic and moral integrity of the National policy on Education and in line with the vision of the Federal Ministry of Education.
On the issue of National Identification Number (NIN), which was initially made a component of the registration process as a directive of the Federal government. The HNO noted that it was not made a compulsory requirement at the initial phase of the entries which is to aid candidates ease of registration and easy access to the portal. Having opened the submission of candidates NIN for upload even when registration has been closed. Dr Dangut affirmed that no candidate was found ineligible for registration as a result of non submission of NIN during the registration process as all schools adhered to the requirements.
The Council acknowledged the high level of insecurity presently witnessed across the country citing issues of such during past examinations over the years. This have necessitated the council's partnership with the Nigeria Police Force through the Inspector General of Police and the various State Government to provide adequate security to ensure the smooth and hitch free conduct of the examination across.
Highlighting on the issue of Examination mal practice, stating categorically, that the penalties for involvement in exam mal practice, will not be compromised but meted out to erring candidates, supervisors, schools and others that will be found culpable. The Council have also put measures in place to discourage and check mate exam mal practice issues.
The Council will as always adhere to the window frame duration of releasing candidates results and certificates timely as had been experienced previously.
The West African Examination Council will continually collaborate with the Federal government and it's representatives as all hands are on deck in ensuring that the conduct of WASSCE for school candidates 2025 is hitch free.
The Head Nigeria National Office WAEC, while thanking the media and all present, conclusively, re affirmed the council's readiness for the examination. Also appreciating the federal and state ministry of education, the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies and stakeholders in their resolve to deliver a credible examination to the Nigerian child and the general public.
