NRCS: KEEPING HUMANITY ALIVE, PRE- EVENT PRESS BRIEFING

These words were re echoed in the speech of the President of Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, delivered in his stead by the Chairperson, Nigerian Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Lagos Branch, Mrs Bola Bakare Kolawole in a Pre- event press brief held in Lagos on Thursday the 26th of September, 2024.

This event is to herald the Nigeria Red Cross fundraising launch, coming up on the 28th of September,2024, themed "KEEPING HUMANITY ALIVE" 

Drawing reference from the famine earlier warning system last year 2023, which pre warned that due to a combination of factors like, conflict,drought and inflation. Many people are liable to suffer hunger this year 2024.

The figure of victims analysed in 2023 to be 26.5million while a rise to 31.5million is predicted come October, 2024. This necessitated the call for support to aid people who are at risk of suffering severe hunger and malnutrition.

Noting that fundraising has never been a major responsibility or priority of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. The last witnessed was the fundraising of the world war 2, returnees, the analysis and evidence glaring necessities the call for support prior the fundraising program.

Citing women and children as the major hit informed that they will not only be judiciously transparent in implementation of immediate relief especially in major expected hit locations but will also facilitate long term sustainable programs designed to equip families and communities with the required tools they need which he stated, will  aid them to RECOVER, REBUILD AND THRIVE.

The President, called for all to align to reality as the present crisis demands a collective response from All to enable us avert starvation and the sad prospect of malnutrition as envisaged. Beseeching the media to put their weight in Amplifying the campaign.

As the fundraising launch day approaches, on the 28th of September, 2024, the President in his statement, appealed to everyone either through donations, Partnership or spreading awareness should join hands together in keeping humanity alive. In his words....
