'PECULIAR VOICES OF HOPE' AND 'PRETTY IN PINK' NGO MARKED THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD

 International Day Of The Girl Child 2024.       "Girls' Vision For The Future"



The saying that "every girl child is an Apple of God's eyes"                                                        Life Challenges they also say, cannot break one but can make one.

This was resounded at the event to celebrate the United Nations International day of the girl child themed, "Girls' Vision For The Future" organized by the 'Peculiar Voices Of Hope' in partnership with 'Pretty In Pink' both Non governmental Organizations which held at Jeed Trinity College, ilasamaja, Isolo, Lagos recently.

The Project Director for 'Pretty In Pink', Mrs Glory Adeyemi in her opening speech, reiterated that the event is to mark this year, 2024 annual International day of the girl child which is celebrated every 11th of October globally.                                             Intimating the media at the event, the Project Director 'Pretty In Pink' stated that the event was initiated inorder to sensitize and reach out to the girl child on the need to stay strong and hold firmly unto her future, without fear or in the face of several societal challenges.

The Converner and Project Director of  "Peculiar voices of Hope" Mrs Uchenna Ofomata made the event more interactive amongst the female students presents, most of them were given the opportunity to voice out personal challenges facing them daily as a girl child in our society.


Ofomata admonished the students that a girl child must not only be focused in life but also have a vision that will drive her in the face of several challenges ranging from domestic, societal, relationship, family and others.                                                                     She affirmed that a girl child can be what she so ever desires in life, most especially if empowered.

Nnaji Peace Ogechi                                              School Administrator...Jeed Trinity College

The School Administrator of Jeed Trinity College, Mrs Nnaji Peace Ogechi emphasized the uniqueness of the girl child in every society, placing orientation as a major tool in setting the girl child on the right footing in her course of life.                                                   She called on the parents and government to play a major role in reaching out to this girls, as well as giving them special attention by granting them a listening ear and nurturing them towards the right direction,  most importantly putting and directing them towards prayers as a major tool.

Mrs Tracy Nathaniel one of the organizers, took the childrens on the importance of self empowerment for the girl child. Calling on the girls to equip themselves with any trade coupled with their education as the value and impact of the girl child to the society can be witnessed in most females making history, in our present society.


The students trouped out in mass to honour the occasion which was quite interactive. Some who spoke thanked the organizers for the unique opportunity while nothing that, not only has the program impacted them positively but has also given them a renewed zeal to be focused in their career as well as,  having a focused vision for themselves.

The program came to an end with motivational books been given out to some of the students and  provision of entertainment for the students. Group Picture section comprising of the organizers and the students of Jeed Trinity College marked the closer of the event.
