NASS Extends 2023 Budget, Supplementary Appropriations Act Till 31st December, 2024 The National Assembly has granted an extension to the implementation of the Capital aspect of the Appropriation Act, 2023 from 30 June 2024 to 31 December 2024 following a request by President Bola Tinubu. The Senate and House of representatives also passed a bill for an Act to amend the implementation of the 2023 supplementary appropriation bill till 31st December, 2024. President Tinubu seeks the extension of the two budgets until 31 December to allow for a full implementation of the law. The passage followed the emergency plenary convened which was presided by the  President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday. NNPP FOUNDER DR. ANIEBONAM WARNS AGAINST AN ALLEGED PLANNED ATTACK ON HIS PREMISES

 BREAKING NEWS  Dr. Aniebonam alleges plot to attack NAGAFF  village, residence over nnpp original certificate. The Founder of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Thursday alleged that some expelled members of the party may have perfected plans to attack the NAGAFF village and his resident in search of the original certificate of nnpp  In a statement in Lagos, Aniebonam said intelligence revealed that the planned attack was to take custody of the NNPP registration certificate which is in his custody.  He said there were also plans to storm his residence with a search warrant over trumped up allegations with intent to hijack the original certificate. Nigeria Customs Service Official Dies at NASS The House of Representatives has announced the death of a Senior Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service during an engagement with a House Committee at the National Assembly. Confirming the incident in a statement, House Spokesman Akin Rotimi says the Customs officer suddenly developed health complications during the House Committee engagement at about 1pm. He said despite the immediate and diligent efforts of first responders and medical personnel at the National Assembly Clinic, the Customs officer unfortunately passed away. Out of respect for the family, the House spokesman says the officer's name will not be disclosed at this time. He conveys the Green Chamber's sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, assuring that the House stands ready to support efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Senate Never Proposed New Aircraft For Tinubu, Shettima - Akpabio The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has dismissed the report that the 10th Senate is proposing that the Federal Government should procure new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima. Speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri shortly after leading a delegation to pay a condolence visit to Senator Tahir Monguno over the death of his father, Akpabio noted that the report is not true. Last week, reports filtered in the media that the Senate President made a comment that the Senate would approve the purchase of new aircraft for the President and Vice President irrespective of the fact that Nigerians are hungry. The Senate President said the report was from propagandists and fifth columnists, stressing that the Senate was focused on delivering legislation that would support the actualisation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. CSO calls for Centralized Hajj Operating System in Nigeria Given the noticeable gaps in both policy and its implementation in terms of service delivery, Independent Hajj Reporters, (IHR) a civil society organization that monitors and reports hajj in Nigeria has called on the National Assembly to amend the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Act to ensure a cohesive and effective hajj operating system in the country. IHR in a statement on Monday, signed by its national coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammad in Makkah, Saudi Arabia said the call also becomes necessary because of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj’s adjustment of hajj policy and calendar of events – which is a detailed approved guideline for all hajj participating countries.  NDLEA bursts snake-guarded shrine used to store illicit drugs, arrests 2 in Edo Intercepts 8.2kg methamphetamine concealed in imported chocolate packs in Lagos; nabs 76-year-old grandfather with 340.8kg drug consignment in Abuja. A snake guarded shrine used to store illicit drugs in Igor community, Benin city, Edo state, has been raided by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, who detected a specially constructed large hole storage in a wall covered with wallpapers and fetish objects. Different quantities of illicit substances such as methamphetamine, Loud, Colorado and Arizona, all strong strains of cannabis with a total weight of 8.743 kilograms, were pulled out from the deep hole dug in the wall of the shrine building.  South Africa and Nigeria Presidents Meet, Underscore Need for Stronger Partnership South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa visited Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu in a private meeting on Thursday in Johannesburg to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between both countries.   President Ramaphosa expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for attending his second-term inauguration. Meanwhile, President Tinubu had noted that President Ramaphosa’s inaugural speech captured most of the challenges faced by African countries and the need for more collaboration among leaders and citizens to provide solutions.
